Bruce Lee had a majestic presence on the television screen and in person. Because of an early death, he became a legend. This led to numerous references to him in popular culture, almost as if he were a character in a book or apart of a “real movie.” I will make mention of a few of these references.

Fei Long: This  is my favorite reference. The Street Fighter character who is battled in Hong Kong. His name means Flying Dragon in Chinese, an obvious and direct reference to Bruce Lee (not to mention his appearance and fighting style).

Lee (Naruto): Again, the name makes the reference apparent, along with his appearance. Lee’s determination is representative of an idealistic view about Bruce Lee.

Kill Bill: I haven’t seen either movie, but the track suit worn is a reference to Bruce Lee’s movie track suit.

Recent polls are showing that Barack Obama became even more popular as the inauguration approached. The expectations for Obama run high, and the promises he has made may be even higher. This trust in one man to make-do on lofty promises may be familliar to someone who has seen The Dark Knight. Harvey Dent, the white knight district attorney of Gotham City: Two-Face, a twisted foe of justice. They are one and the same, although the people who trusted him, including Batman, could never have imagined this to be so. Dent’s Idealism, the expectations of the people, and the grim reality of the situation combined to create a murderous monster. Obama has the expectation, and possibly an even greater expectation than the fictional character of Dent; Obama speaks as though he may have the same level of idealism; and Obama faces the grim reality of hardships he listed in his speech (economy, health care, education, war, terrorism, etc). One can only trust Obama to stick to his promises unlike Harvey Dent who failed the people of Gotham. Had Batman not taken the fall for Dent’s shortcomings, all hope would have been lost. If Obama comes up short of the goal line, even by a foot, it could have drastic consequences on the morale of America. Thankfully, this is not a movie script, and the outcome has not been written yet.

This is overdue. I thought I posted a blog about this, but it seems I left it on draft. After I made an entry on WordPress about overdoses, I decided to make another sonic sez health video about using medications. I think my voice acting as improved a little bit, but I’m still hoping for more people to watch or comment on the videos. This one has a lot of meaning with the fairly recent release of The Dark Knight. A report came out shortly before I wrote the script about the increase in accidental overdoses and deaths caused by improper use of medications. The coincidence is eerie that research over 20 years in the making was released the same that Heath Ledger’s death brought the issue to the forefront. This video is dedicated to Heath Ledger, and to the promise of better knowledge about medications.

I recently made a Sonic Sez health tip video about seizures and epilepsy. I put good amount of effort into the construction of this video, and I had a fair amount of previous knowledge about the subject which I used. I wanted to project that seizures are not only convulsions, and that many of the causes are unknown.  I had a number of special reasons to learn about seizures, and having read a few books about them I probably know more about seizures than any of the other topics I tackled. The effort I put into this was well worth it from an educational and amusement standpoint (I hand made the set for this video). And of course the video isn’t too serious. I think the intro is enticing for anyone who likes sonic, and I still used a silly saying at the end.

(Channel: MegaSonic) No one watches my good videos on youtube. Maybe I just don’t know how to tag/promote them, but when less well developed videos have over a 100,000 views and better ones have less than 1,000 the question becomes, “why?” I believe my yu yu hakusho video (about 900) is worthy of more views than the castle in the sky video (over 100,000). However, either no one has an interest in the former, or it just doesn’t come up in searches. Most of my videos are rated fairly high, but the traffic is sometimes slow. I really expected more people to watch my Dr. Martin Luther King Jr video, my Mononoke Hime video, and my sonic the hedgehog videos. In fact, since my castle in the sky video was one of the first I put up, I expected almost everything else to do at least as well as that one. I personally, really enjoy my blog introduction video, but that is rarely viewed. I also like my streets of rage videos, especially the most recent one. I don’t really care too mch for the political videos I made. They make a statement, but the quality is not so great. When I make anime music videos, or game music videos I make them the same way I write poetry. That is kinda strange, but it works for me. I’ll be trying something fairly different soon, probably some health tips videos. please watch my videos, and say what you think. The tags list out everthing covered in my videos. http://www.youtube.com/user/MegaSonic

The Gotham Knight animation brilliantly portrays the Batman storyline. Separated into several different stories, with different artist and different viewpoints, it runs like a comic book. It is unforunate that it has not received much publicity. I had heard about it awhile back, but I did not know it had been released until I saw it at blockbuster. The animation certainly made me want to see the Dark Knight more, but it holds up strongly on its own. I particulary enjoyed the art because the Japanese style seemed to fit batman and the city of Gotham very well. Each of the stories were very well developed and prevent me from choosing a single favorite. This is expected with screenwriters including individuals who worked on Batman Begins and Batman The Animated Series.
