CHARACTER

Pull down the curtains on a bad play

And bring down hope from the sky.

Open the curtains to the scene of a great play,

Scripted by the playwright of a dream.

Reveal Daimon:

Let the lines flow from your heart

And act on impulse

To reach the state of Wu Wei,

Allowing life to flow.

Most know about Bruce Lee the martial artist and actor; Many know about Bruce Lee the philosopher; Few know about Bruce Lee the poet. Indeed, Bruce Lee spent much of his free time writing poetry and translating Chinese poems. In fact, his poetry is of a high quality, worthy of acknowledgement although his other accomplishments are far overshadowing. Most of his poems seem to have been for his wife (or possibly wife-to-be at the time). He often speaks of being distanced from the one he loves. Although distant love is a recurring theme, each poem still has a certain uniqueness.

I made a new blog intro that is already on the “World of MegaSonic” page under the one for last year. I devoted this blog intro to self-expression, much as I did the previous one but in a different fashion. I use a knowledge of video games and video editing experimentation to tell a sort of short story that describes what I hope to accomplish with this blog. Plus a bit of humor for Chrono Trigger fans.

George Orwell once wrote an essay entitled “Why I Write, ” beginning, “From a very early age, perhaps the age of five or six, I knew that when I grew up I should be a writer. Between the ages of about seventeen and twenty-four I tried to abandon this idea, but I did so with the consciousness that I was outraging my true nature and that sooner or later I should have to settle down and write books.”

My motivation to write differs from Orwell’s drastically. I did not read much when I was young and I did not write well. I eventually turned to writing to sort out my thoughts, but now I write because of a purpose. This purpose drives me to find ways to change the world, and writing serves this purpose. However, Orwell wrote from within a self-nature and changed the world. I am writing to change the world but have gained a self-nature to write instead.

Leaving the library today I saw a bumper sticker saying “create the world you want to see.” Those words reverberate in my head, and will do so each time I make a post, and every time I create a video for youtube. Molding the world is possible if you have the full intention to do so. I wonder what the driver of the car does to change the the world.

Language is very intriguing. This is a picture of the cover on one of my notebooks. Unfortunately, this is mostly filled with boring notes from lectures, although I do have a couple of writings in it. I actually find covers like this to be inspiring for writing poems and stories.

Citing fiction is merely a round-a-bout process of citing non-fiction. That is, the reference to another person’s thoughts, which are real whether fact or opinion. It is certainly a mistake to believe fiction can give us statistics, but to assume information based on the fictional works of a number of authors is not really different from assuming something based on a yes/no poll. In fact, the former may be more useful in a number of situations since yes/no polls offer no explanations, no additional input, and no interpretation on part of the sample. Reality is much more complex than a simple yes or no, and fiction is deeply embedded in reality.

The idea of citing fiction often can easily be criticized as too abstract. One can only try to understand what an author was truly thinking or what a passage  truly meant. Yet, one reason for citing a literary work of fiction or non-fiction is to back up a statment or presented argument. Words and numbers have a strong history of being pulled out of context or twisted. Other proof, aside from the hard facts, other proof must be coupled to make the strongest argument possible. in this way, fiction can be just as effective. And depending on the audience maybe more so, considering the impact of the fictional styles on human emotion as compared to the raw language often used with words of fact.

The Language of the whispering wind lends me a handful of beautiful words;

borrowed and borrowed, I am indebted to the air that has sewn together my poetry.

But is it just to rely on the coming storm to make my emotions flow onto paper?

Without the hurricane my thoughts are limited,

and the stanzas from my mind are dull.

The eye of my poems do not lie within the eye of the hurricane.

I find my perfect outlet in the calamitous wall,

where the wind whispers louder than the shouts of my strongest thoughts.

I knew the man went through the dangers of dark land to save the princess.

I knew the hedgehog came to to the Death Egg to stop evil.

It was no lie.

They were real; I believed they were real; I could feel that they were real.

A man did confront Bowser,

A hedgehog did face Robotnik.

Somewhere a plumber became a hero,

Somehow a blue blur became a legend.

They fought desperate battles and defined determination.

I saw the man pound his way through blocks,

I saw the hedgehog cruise through the green hills.

And for it they gained my admiration —

so that now I seek to make my own storyline.

(Channel: MegaSonic) No one watches my good videos on youtube. Maybe I just don’t know how to tag/promote them, but when less well developed videos have over a 100,000 views and better ones have less than 1,000 the question becomes, “why?” I believe my yu yu hakusho video (about 900) is worthy of more views than the castle in the sky video (over 100,000). However, either no one has an interest in the former, or it just doesn’t come up in searches. Most of my videos are rated fairly high, but the traffic is sometimes slow. I really expected more people to watch my Dr. Martin Luther King Jr video, my Mononoke Hime video, and my sonic the hedgehog videos. In fact, since my castle in the sky video was one of the first I put up, I expected almost everything else to do at least as well as that one. I personally, really enjoy my blog introduction video, but that is rarely viewed. I also like my streets of rage videos, especially the most recent one. I don’t really care too mch for the political videos I made. They make a statement, but the quality is not so great. When I make anime music videos, or game music videos I make them the same way I write poetry. That is kinda strange, but it works for me. I’ll be trying something fairly different soon, probably some health tips videos. please watch my videos, and say what you think. The tags list out everthing covered in my videos. http://www.youtube.com/user/MegaSonic
